Description

The Museum für Fotografie (Museum of Photography) has been a magnet for photography enthusiasts from all over the world since its opening. In the last few years alone, over 1 million visitors have flocked to see the exhibitions presented at the museum by the Kunstbibliothek’s Collection of Photography and the helmut Newton Foundation. Accepted as a mobile smartphone voucher or printed out.

These two institutions have 2000 square metres of exhibition space at their disposal in which to present exciting exhibitions on diverse topics in the history of photography.

The special exhibition focuses on various aspects of Hollywood and its role interpreted by thirteen photographers. In the main room, the exhibition concentrates on the medium of film and the Hollywood system, while another room presents Julius Shulman's architectural photographs of the luxurious mansions in the Hollywood Hills or Beverly Hills. Street Photography taken by Alice Springs in West Hollywood, offers insights into the counterculture of punks and mods in the 1980s.  
 
In addition, the special exhibition "Hollywood" also features works by artists such as Eve Arnold, Michael Dressel, Anton Corbijn, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Jens Liebchen, Ruth Harriet Louise, Helmut Newton, Steve Schapiro, Julius Shulman or Larry Sultan. 

Helmut Newton's Private Property

The permanent exhibition "Private Property" on the first floor of the Museum of Photography shows a selection of used cameras, his own photo and art collection. In addition, Helmut Newton's library as well as parts of his office in Monte Carlo, the famous Newton-Mobile, exhibition posters and numerous publications of his photographs are on display.

Children and young people under the age of 18 are admitted free of charge.
