Exhibition: Dive into the Picture! Time Travel for Kids

Who hasn't wished they could step into a painting from the past, meet the people there and find out how they lived back then? Go on a journey through time together with your children. The children's exhibition at the Deutsches Historisches Museum will guide you through this impressive exhibition in an entertaining way.

A special journey of discovery for the whole family

The children's exhibition with hands-on stations to try out and experience invites museum visitors of primary school age and their families in particular to explore one of the famous Augsburg monthly paintings from the 16th century. They can immerse themselves in the social life of the time like in a pop-up book and travel back in time to the 16th century. People depicted in the painting become narrative figures and open up access to the four thematic areas of this exhibition: people, games, trade and nature. In this inclusive exhibition, children can explore the visible and invisible in a playful and exploratory way.

Did life really look the same at that time?

These and many other exciting questions are answered in this exhibition and prepared for children. Young visitors are thus introduced to a precise and critical examination of pictorial representations in an exciting and fascinating way.
